Quick Tips for Hiring & Onboarding Great Talent.
During Interview Phase
- Interview Quickly. Don’t let days and weeks pass in-between.
- Never tell a candidate you like that “you have more interviews to wrap up and then you will get back to them.” Even if it is true – you might as well tell them they didn’t impress you. Sends the wrong message.
- If you are bringing in a candidate for interviews. Book and pay for all travel and accommodations yourself. Don’t ask the candidate to go out of pocket. It is just more professional.
Once Hired
- Stay in touch with your new hire. Several calls/text messages before onboarding goes a long way just to see how things are tracking etc.
- Get them involved in what is going on now. Invite them to Zoom meetings and other events even if they only observe.
- Make sure HR and IT has everything ready for their arrival, (Insurance, Phones, Email, Computer, etc.).
